Mitsubishi Heavy Industries came to ARBS with the goods this year, rounding out their broad product offering with some innovative new technology. The major new release for the residential and commercial air conditioning supplier was its new high-efficiency CO2 air to water heat pump.

Q-ton is the new generation air-to-water heat pump for commercial sanitary hot water use that utilises CO2 refrigerant.  It has the world’s first two-stage compressor (combining rotary and scroll technology).

It maintains high efficiency and significantly improves performance at cold outside air temperatures unlike any other product currently available in the Australian Market.   The COP at intermediate season reaches *4.3, which is one of highest levels in the industry. *(16oC ambient, 17oC feed water & water outlet temperature setting of 65oC).

Q-ton operates like a boiler with no heating backup requirement and is suitable for retrofit or new build projects.   Hot water supply is settable from 60oC to 90oC and achievable down to minus 25oC ambient temperature.

Modular installations, from 30kW up to 480kW (1~16 units) and 5,000 litre to 120,000 litre configurations are available.  This allows flexibility and suitability across a wide range of commercial applications.

“It’s a brand new product in Australia released this week at ARBS,” Adrian Brown, national sales manager for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries announced. “There’s nothing else in Australia like it."

Another new product turning heads is the 1.7kW split-system air conditioner, the SRK17ZMP, which is the smallest capacity air-conditioner from a major manufacturer on the Australian market.

“It’s aimed at the second or third bedroom in your house,” Brown said. “Most second and third bedrooms in Australia only need around a 1.5kW air-conditioner to heat or cool the room. Anyone else goes down to about 2 or 2.5 kW. The 1.7kW is actually a better size for the required operation.

"Obviously there’s savings there for the end-consumer as well, because you’re buying something more appropriate rather than buying something over-sized.”

The unit is smaller and compact in design and compatible with the IntesisHome® Wi-Fi system, therefore you can operate the unit anywhere on your mobile or tablet.

MHIAA will also be introducing a ducted Wi-Fi zoning solution to our range, official launch is yet to be confirmed. Advanced zoning technology, AirZone is fully integrated and easy to install, a great additional solution to our PAC range.

This year, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is also joining the R32 game, releasing a product using the next-generation refrigerant called the SRK-ZSA-W. “This will be out towards the end of the year, around spring, and then after that it will come out in the larger capacities initially, and then in 12 months’ time the rest of the range will start coming out,” Brown said.
