Seeley International has acquired Melbourne-based company, AIRA, a local manufacturer of heating, cooling and energy recovery ventilation equipment.

Seeley International group managing director, Jon Seeley, said the purchase of AIRA’s heating, cooling and ERV business and the highly regarded AIRA brand, which comes into effect on May 23, 2016, will significantly complement and extend Seeley’s commercial product offering to the market.

“This acquisition is a perfect fit for both organisations, offering unrivalled benefit to our customers, with a much broader range of heating and cooling solutions to consider. It’s a winning combination," Seeley said.

“Seeley International is pleased to be adding the AIRA range of Australian-made evaporative coolers and gas fired heaters to our current award-winning product portfolio. All products will continue to be designed, manufactured, and tested in our Australian facilities to ensure customers continue to receive superior quality and performance.

“AIRA’s history has strong parallels with that of Seeley International, and our intention is to provide continuity and ongoing development of this great Aussie brand into the future. We are also pleased to be welcoming a number of new staff from AIRA’s engineering, manufacturing and sales areas to the broader Seeley International family.”

Seeley said it will be business-as-usual for AIRA’s customers, commercial contractors, trade accounts and distributors, who will be supported by Seeley's extensive national sales and support team.

AIRA was founded in 1965 by the father of the current owner and managing director, Ian Rich, who won  "Innovator of the Year" at CCN's 2015 HVACR Leadership Awards.

The sale of AIRA’s HVAC operations will allow the company to re-focus its efforts on the other part of its business; the manufacture and supply of a wide range of boiler systems, under the new trading name of Airatherm.

Commenting on the acquisition AIRA managing director, Ian Rich, said the company has been a leading Australian manufacturer and supplier of commercial and industrial products since it first began in 1965.

"We can now continue our evolution as Airatherm, knowing that the AIRA business and its customers are in good hands with Seeley International,” he said.

AIRA products and spare parts will continue to be available across Australia and New Zealand through Seeley International’s extensive national agent network.
