Actron Air plans to double production capacity at its new plant in Marsden Park, west of Sydney, which was officially opened by NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian on Friday.
Set on 41,700 square metres of land with an adjoining 13,000sqm available for further expansion, the new facility employs 300 staff with 160 based in the manufacturing plant.
“Who says manufacturing isn’t alive? The state government is investing $26 billion in western Sydney alone in the next few years,” the Premier said.
“This is why business confidence and growth in NSW is around 20% year on year compared to other states which average 3%.”
Describing the Actron Air story as inspiring, Berejiklian said its hard to believe that 34 years ago the company’s founder, Garry Mundy was working out of a garage in Winston Hills.
“His vision and hard work has created a global company,” she said.
Actron Air managing director, Norman Windell, said it was an exceptional manufacturing plant with state-of-the-art technology such as the automated sheet metal facility.
“We are bigger but our priorities remain the same. The products we are producing today are 60 per cent more energy efficient than 10 years ago,” Windell said.
“We will double our capacity from the last facility and continue to maintain double digit growth.
“A successful region like western Sydney only happens when industry and all levels of government work together.”
The 18,000m2 warehouse has 22 roller doors while the research and developments labs cover an area of 2,300m2.
A further 3,300m2 is dedicated to office space plus the facility has 400kW of solar power and 2 x 1500 KVA substations.
Building such a mammoth structure required 600 tonnes of steel, 9,000m3 of concrete and 200 tonnes of reinforcements.
