HVACR is so multi-faceted and far reaching that its impact as an industry somehow gets diluted.

We spread ourselves too thin and across so many sections of industry that our footprint gets lost in the sand.

It’s the reason why so few people outside of the industry have any real grasp of what HVACR is actually about. It’s frustrating because it’s this broad scope of services offered by the HVACR industry that makes it so interesting.

In fact, it’s this diversity that has created an industry of people that can only be described as multi-talented. Those who work in HVACR don’t just have expertise in heating and cooling or refrigeration.

No Siree … HVACR isn’t that simple! To be successful in this industry pundits don’t just restrict their knowledge base to air conditioning or heating systems.

They are most likely to have a solid understanding of everything, from Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and ventilation to building services, chillers, refrigerants, building automation and much more. The list goes on.

We’re talking about an industry that touches the lives of everyone each and every day, it just doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. Unfortunately, HVACR is so broad that it dissipates to the point of no return.

It’s bizarre really. The qualities that make HVACR so great are the very qualities that contribute to its problem of invisibility.

Getting the rest of the world to understand the significance of HVACR and why it matters to the national economy is a huge task, one that is partly the responsibility of industry groups.

My job is trying to report on the entirety of HVACR within the pages of a single magazine.

It can be challenging at times because the focus can shift from one segment of the industry to another very quickly and, as we know, every part of HVACR has its own set of challenges and complexities to grasp.

This month’s magazine is an excellent example. There are three features covered in the September edition – natural refrigerants, chillers, fans and air movement.

Next month the features range from residential air conditioning to insulation and ducting. And just to ensure no stone is left unturned, CCN is publishing a special issue in November featuring a product showcase. That’s right! The industry’s best products will be displayed and, of course, we will be covering all areas of HVACR.

So if you missed ARBS, this is your chance to showcase your business in the pages of CCN Magazine.

Even if our footprint does fade at times we can only strive to put our best foot forward – one step at a time.
