The Chemours Company has acquired ICOR International, a privately-owned leading supplier of branded refrigerants and related products for HVACR applications in North America.

Chemours vice president of fluorochemicals business, Diego Boeri, said ICOR has developed an excellent reputation with contractors and equipment owners, has strong brands and an extensive distributor network, all of which will be a valuable addition to Chemours.

"It enhances our ability to meet our customer needs in North America,” Boeri said.

ICOR supplies a range of HFC refrigerants – R134a, R407A, R404A, R407C, R410A – as well as the hydrocarbons propane and isobutane.

In addition it supplies a number of specialist blends NU-22B (R422B), Hot Shot-2 (R417C) and One Shot-C (R422C). All contain varying proportions of R125 and R134a with a small amount of hydrocarbon and are designed to replace a range of refrigerants including R22.

ICOR International COO, Gordon McKinney, said Chemours is establishing itself as a new kind of chemistry company.

"We are excited to join them on this journey,” McKinney said.

“This acquisition clearly indicates the strategic long-term value that Chemours sees in our strong brands and customer-centric approach to the market.”

Chemours is best known in the HVACR industry for its Freon and Opteon brands.
