Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors Association (AMCA) national director, Sumit Oberoi, has been elected to the Board of the Australian Refrigeration Council’s (ARC).

In a statement the ARC said Oberoi joins the ARC Board at an important time. "The Board is actively meeting new challenges associated with a dynamic refrigeration and air conditioning industry including: skills, training quality, refrigerant evolution and energy efficiency," the statement said.

ARC CEO Glenn Evans said Oberoi is a passionate voice for air conditioning contractors. "His knowledge and experience will bolster the Board and provide ARC and licence holders with an objective perspective on important industry issues,” Evans said.

“The ARC is a genuine partnership between government and industry, delivering positive industry and environmental outcomes through the formation of the world-leading, skills-based, national RAC licence scheme.

"This provides ARC with a unique platform for collaboration across all of industry."

Evans said that internationally, the work undertaken by the ARC has been recognised as world-leading.

"Locally, the ARC licence scheme has been endorsed by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) - the peak intergovernmental forum in Australia - as the only domestic RAC licence scheme to deliver a net benefit, highlighting the ARC’s effectiveness and efficiency credentials," he said.

"It is important that the ARC remain focused on the bigger picture for the benefit of industry and all technicians, and we are fortunate to have the leaders of industry as our members.

"The ARC’s strategy to future-proof the industry is a major directive that is a natural extension of having such an inclusive and diverse industry Board."
