Midea has successfully delivered a full-scale air conditioning upgrade at 125 York Street, Sydney, NSW 2000, a six‑storey commercial building in the heart of the city’s central business district.

The project replaces an ageing system with 14 brand‑new 28 kW Midea commercial VRF units, ensuring modern, energy‑efficient climate control throughout a mixed‑use environment.

The building comprises ground‑floor retail tenancies and upper‑floor office spaces, each with distinct cooling requirements.

To address varying occupancy levels and operating hours, the retrofit employed Midea’s latest generation of variable‑refrigerant‑flow technology.

Compact outdoor modules were installed on the rooftop plant deck, while slim indoor units were fitted in ceiling voids, optimising space utilisation in an already fully occupied structure.

Each 28 kW unit serves an independent zone, allowing precise temperature control for individual retail outlets and office suites.

Intelligent controls enable facility managers to adjust setpoints and operating schedules to suit tenant needs, enhancing comfort and efficiency across the building.

Midea Australia’s service team managed the project from start to finish. Local technicians conducted site surveys, worked alongside approved installation partners, and oversaw commissioning to ensure the new system met performance expectations.

By leveraging Midea’s in‑country expertise, the transition was completed smoothly, with minimal disruption to tenants.

Post‑installation support includes access to centrally stocked spare‑parts depots in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, as well as an on‑demand technical‑support hotline staffed by local HVAC experts.

Lower power bills and a reduced carbon footprint underline the advantages of upgrading to modern VRF technology in commercial buildings.

This project highlights Midea’s growing presence in Australia’s commercial‑building sector. Backed by global R&D and localised service capabilities, Midea offers end‑to‑end HVAC solutions—from system design and supply through to installation, commissioning and after‑sales support.

The company continues to strengthen its footprint in urban retrofit projects, where space constraints and tenant requirements demand flexible, high‑performance solutions.
