This year for the very first time, CCN’s HVACR Leadership Awards will include the Fridgie of the Year Award thanks to the generous support of Totaline.

The company's national technical manager for refrigeration and product solutions, Gaj Bhalerao, said today's fridgie toils hard – come rain, heat or harsh, remote location – they have an important job.

"Engineers get recognised, so do project managers and facility managers, so why not the humble fridgie? We need to acknowledge the value of their work," Bhalerao said.

"It isn't often we hear about how a fridgie on site saved hundreds of tonnes of food, or how a fridgie saved a business from going bust.

"This award is a first step toward recognising their hard work and appreciating their efforts. They are out there making it happen, and are often on call at all hours of the day."

It takes focus to be a fridgie following blueprints and specifications to install units, and this usually means working extended hours to fix breakdowns.

"A fridgie of today has a lot more access to technology and information and Totaline is hoping that by sponsoring a Fridgie of the Year Award it will give the job greater recognition."

Bhalerao said Totaline is supporting this initiative with top brands like Aicool-Airef, Danfoss, Embraco, Emerson, Frascold, Parker-Sporlan, Testo and ZoomLock and many more.

"Our goal is to provide a one-stop shop solution to the Australian fridgie," he said.
