Smartcool Systems has released a new program promoting better energy efficiency for homes and businesses through Smartcool retrofits.
Smartcool’s ECO3 saves an average 20 per cent of the energy used by compressors in air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump systems, the company says.
Over 30,000 installations globally have been completed for commercial and residential customers as their chosen energy efficiency retrofit.
The ECO3 is installed by an electrician with basic Smartcool training and experience with air conditioning, refrigeration and/or heat pump systems.
Smartcool sells the ECO3 to distributors around the world and provides them with a full support package, including initial hands-on field training, product manuals and other documentation in a secure online library, and ongoing remote support.
Australia was an early participant in the program with a national distributor based in Queensland.
Smartcool Australia operations manager, Scott Gregson, said the retrofit program has been particularly successful here with large national rollouts in the banking and transport sectors.
“The ECO range is ideal for small to medium plant installs while the ESM range is more suited to larger plants, chillers and rack systems,” he said.
“It is compatible with most air conditioning or refrigeration systems and is available in SIM or IIM configurations.
“It isn’t just about bottom line energy savings but significant reductions in peak demand savings which we have seen with recent installations in supermarkets and shopping centres.”
Gregson said the Australian distributorship has been operating for eight years and has over 1000 clients.
“We are continually refining what we do and how we do it, in order to provide the most advanced product possible,” he said.
“When it comes to energy savings in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry, what we have seen, has been a drop in the ocean.
“Potentially the opportunities are huge; the future looks bright for Smartcool Systems in Australia.”
Gregson said HVAC&R systems can account for up to 70 per cent of a building’s energy consumption, and compressors use up to 70 per cent of the energy consumed by HVAC&R systems.
