There was a time when innovation was synonymous with industries like information technology or biotechnology but that's certainly changed.

Innovation has become necessary for any company seeking market leadership and it certainly applies to HVACR.

While HVACR is a well established leader in energy efficiency and sustainability, there are so many other areas where this industry is making a difference.

Just take a look at past winners of CCN's Innovator of the Year Award.

Last year it was Samit Sen of Johnson Controls. Sen was recognised for being at the forefront of data analytics and smart buildings.

The year before the winner was Steve Oakley, managing director of Heuch Refrigeration, a company that commercialised the world's first 100 per cent solar powered refrigeration container.

The very first Innovator of the Year Award went to Ian Rich, the managing director of an Aussie manufacturer of high efficiency heating and cooling products.

Here we are in 2018 and the search is on for this year's Innovator of the Year. Its an opportunity to recognise an innovative project, program or product that has made a difference in HVACR.

Are you an innovator or do you know an innovator that is worthy of an award?

The sponsor of this award, Toshiba Air Conditioning, recognises the importance of supporting industry innovators.

The company's business unit manager, John Caione, describes innovation as the lifeblood of growth.

“Innovation needs to be encouraged, we want to inspire the next generation of innovators through this awards program,” Caione said.
