Olympus Australia Pty Ltd has announced the departure of Joe Tizzone after 13 years with the organisation.

Tizzone is departing as general manager of the consumer division, having successfully managed the business through significant market changes including integration of the consumer business into the broader Olympus organisation.

Since joining Olympus in 2004, he has witnessed a tremendous amount of change in the consumer electronics market.

Tizzone leaves the company in an exceptionally strong position.

“I am proud to have worked for such an innovative company with a rich history of incredible products for consumers and professionals alike," he said.

"I also feel fortunate to have worked with some truly talented people within the organisation and across the industry."

According to Olympus managing director, James Bowe, Tizzone has been able to achieve outstanding results during his career at Olympus.

"While we are disappointed by his departure, it makes me proud of our ability to develop business leaders of Joe’s calibre and I certainly wish him all the best in his new endeavours," he said.

Jason Borg has been announced as the consumer division manager effective from August 1, 2017.

Borg has been with Olympus for 12 years so he has a strong understanding of the business. Borg comes into the position with an intimate knowledge of the business, having been with Olympus for over 12 years, and will take over the reins at a time of robust performance by the consumer division.

Following the recent merger of Olympus Imaging Australia Pty Ltd into Olympus Australia Pty Ltd, the combined entity now boasts revenues of over $220 million and employs over 400 staff in Australia and New Zealand.
