As the world transitions to a low carbon future it is essential that the HVACR sector reduces its direct and indirect CO2 emissions.

Switching from fossil fuel to renewable energy to reduce direct emissions appears to be the obvious answer however the issue is more complex, as HVACR loads are 24/7 and renewable energy is intermittent.

In this ARBS session Glaciem Cooling managing director, Julian Hudson, will present a case study of the PCM Thermal Energy Storage project.

He will demonstrate the technical and economic value of using phase change thermal energy storage material and renewable energy optimisation in commercial and industrial HVACR.

Part funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), this project provides a clear demonstration of the technology suite required to enable this transition.

Hudson is currently director & principle engineer at JCH Refrigeration Consulting & founder/technical director of Glaciem Cooling Technologies. Both companies specialise in natural refrigerant technologies.
