Its power monitoring solutions are installed in a full range of applications, from quantifying single phase power consumption to multi tenancy dwellings to monitoring power consumption and renewable energy generation in offices, schools and large industrial buildings and processes.
SPLASH has recently been installed to monitor the power consumption in the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) offices in Auckland. SPLASH use a Sankey diagram, which they call an “Easy View”, to present the current and historical energy consumption and generation in an easy way (see picture).
SPLASH is being installed to manage a chain of cool stores throughout New Zealand. The benefits of SPLASH power monitoring became evident when a client lost its refrigeration systems.
Notification alarm emails were sent to the maintenance contractor, who was quickly able to remotely diagnose a momentary loss of the incoming blue phase which caused the 3 phase compressor to fault on its motor overload.
Due to the comprehensive SPLASH alerting and diagnosis tools, the refrigeration engineer was able to spend very limited time on site as the root cause of the fault was already known.
The technician reset the overload, tested and inspected the switchboard and notified the power company with clear information which allowed them to quickly identify the 160A blue phase fuse carrier at the road side plinth had become loose causing it to overheat and fail.
These repairs were undertaken quickly and at zero cost to the client.
