Testing requirements for gas fired boilers and water heating products are being reviewed under the Victorian government’s Energy Upgrades (VEU) Program.

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning in conjunction with the Essential Service Commission, is looking at options to streamline the gas-fired boiler and water heated efficiency testing procedure specified in Parts 37 and Part 38 of the VEU program.

Part 37 refers to the replacement of a gas-fired steam boiler with a high efficiency gas-fired steam boiler.

Part 38 is the replacement of a gas-fired water boiler or water heater.

The consultation will collect stakeholder feedback on proposed changes that aim to improve cost and accessibility barriers for the uptake of these activities.

A consultation paper has been prepared to facilitate greater understanding of the government’s work so far and the activities being proposed.

Consultation ends on 8 November, 2021.
