There are very few areas in our life that haven’t been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic including your digital edition of CCN Magazine.

It isn’t a typo on the front cover of this month’s digital edition of CCN, it really is the June/July issue which will be followed by August/September.

Despite a reduction in print issues, CCN’s online newsletters doubled throughout the month of May with readers receiving two e-newsletters per week instead of one.

Our commitment to keeping readers informed with all the latest HVACR news remains unchanged.

It is the same with our planned calendar of events, if we cannot be in the same room then we will provide a virtual experience which is exactly what we have planned for our NextGen launch in August. It will be a virtual extravaganza.

Hopefully by the time we host CCN Live on November 12, 2020 we can return to normal scheduling.

Many of the new working norms we have created since the pandemic began may be here to stay, even when there is a vaccine.

I know many of us abandoned the 9 to 5 working day a long time ago, but its death has been incredibly long, slow and drawn out (it has taken decades to disappear).

Leave it in the past it doesn’t belong in a modern world it’s as archaic as peak-hour travel.

Business hours need to be determined by our customer base that means being available for them.  It is also about productivity, we don’t all perform at our best at 6am or even 6pm which is why we should mix it up.

Adopt staggered work hours, spend part of the week in the office and the rest at home or elsewhere.  Re-imagine your working life without the 9 to 5 shackles and peak-hour panic.

Let’s keep all the good habits we’ve acquired during the pandemic like better hygiene and fewer meetings. Let go of the past permanently.
