Sydney-based Polaris Technologies has released a full range of advanced natural refrigerant air conditioning units.
Using Engas M60 natural refrigerant, the Polaris GreenSmart Hydrocarbon units are some of the cleanest on the planet, boasting a GWP of less than 1.
Manufactured with fully welded refrigeration lines and incorporating patented advanced leak prevention and detection technology, these air conditioners are built to the highest reliability and safety levels achievable today, the company said.
Able to operate efficiently up to 60° Celsius, these units are ideal for extreme ambient temperatures.
Low operating discharge pressure means that their compressors do not work as hard as systems using chemical refrigerants like R 410a and R32. This means very little wear and tear and vibration resulting in extended life of the units.
Unlike HFC refrigerants, Polaris said natural refrigerants do not break down into PFAS (forever chemicals) if released into the atmosphere.
“Local Governments in Australia are starting to mandate all new air conditioning and refrigeration equipment use refrigerants with a GWP of less than 10. The aim of the plan is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and future proof HVAC systems,” the company said.
“In New South Wales, councils are being encouraged to take action on climate change under the government’s Net Zero Plan. The plan is being supported by major developers such as Meriton which has already introduced hydrocarbons to a number of its projects in Sydney. Recently a 12-storey riverfront apartment in Parramatta has replaced R22 units with 157 split systems provided by Pioneer International who share technologies with Polaris.”
