The Australian Industry Skills Committee (AISC) has approved updates to the UEE Electrotechnology Training Package for refrigeration and air conditioning qualifications.

The qualification, UEE32220 Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, will replace the current UEE32211 course.

The revised Certificate III includes the latest refrigerants and technologies.

The biggest change has been updates to include flammable A2 and A2L refrigerants.

For example, the unit on recovering, pressure testing, evacuating, charge and leak testing has been split into two units to include the ever-increasing range of refrigerants including class A2/A2L and A3 flammables and CO2.

The Electrotechnology industry in Australia employs over 352,000 people in a wide range of sectors; mining, manufacturing, communications, construction, renewables, domestic and commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning, as well as electricians.

The industry operated with an annual revenue of $89.47 billion in 2018-19.
