Panasonic has launched its new line-up of CO2 hot water heat pump solutions for the Australian market.

There are 16 configurations spanning two output ratings and multiple tank sizes, giving tradespeople a range of trusted solutions to install across virtually any residential or small commercial project.

With a plug-in outdoor unit connection, the range is engineered to make installs simple and efficient by a licensed tradesperson.

Two outdoor unit capacities – 4.0kW and 6.0kW – manufactured by Panasonic in Japan, combine with eight tank options in 250L, 315L and 400L sizes.

Tanks can be either vitreous enamel or stainless steel. The top-of-the-range 6.0kW model achieves a Coefficient of Performance (COP) of 6.1, meaning the solution is up to six times more energy efficient than a standard electric hot water system.

It also means its heat energy output is up to six times greater than the electricity required to run the system, making it one of the most efficient heat pumps in the market.

CO2 is also a natural refrigerant with a global warming potential of just 1, making it a genuinely cleaner choice.

Panasonic’s new CO2 hot water heat pump range maintains consistent energy efficiency and running costs, with reliable and superior water temperature performance even in cold weather.

It produces hot water at 59°C without requiring an electrical backup, even at an outside temperature of -10°C.

Each system can integrate with existing solar (PV) systems, with no additional interface hardware required. Solutions also include a Wi-Fi controller and the Panasonic Comfort Cloud app to create a smarter, more connected living environment with other Panasonic heating and air conditioning systems.

The Panasonic Comfort Cloud app includes an Energy Monitoring feature to help track energy consumption and costs by year, month and day, giving users ongoing visibility of running costs and their hot water heating bills.

Users also have the flexibility to set heating start and end times and target temperatures up to twice per day, activate a holiday mode to disable water heating while travelling, or use the boost function to manually start the heating process at any time.

With a sound output of only 37dB, the range is also one of the quietest on the market, offering greater flexibility in installation placement.

A trusted leader in heat pump innovation, Panasonic has been Japan's top performing brand in the category for more than 25 years, with over two million hot water heat pumps installed in Japan.

Australians will now enjoy Panasonic’s high-quality range of CO2 hot water heat pump solutions, designed in Japan and drawing upon decades of knowledge and sustainable technology in its market-leading heating and air conditioning systems, according to Joe De Bella, group manager- Marketing & Engineering, HVAC Solutions at Panasonic Australia.

“Heat pump solutions are becoming increasingly popular in the Australian market, delivering energy savings as a cost-effective alternative to gas and electric hot water heating,” he said.

“Panasonic’s new CO2 hot water heat pump range represents a significant step forward for the Australian market. It sets a new benchmark for efficiency and sustainability in our solutions, and gives customers a durable, future-ready option backed by a global leader in the industry.”

Panasonic’s new CO2 hot water heat pump solutions are backed by a 10-year parts and labour warranty, giving customers peace of mind.

They are now available in Australia from Panasonic or hot water distribution partner Reclaim Energy.

The Panasonic CO2 heat pump qualifies for the nationwide Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme while state-based incentives are also on offer for households and small businesses, making reliable energy-efficient hot water even more affordable.
