Daikin opened a new state-of-the-art facility in Truganina, Victoria last week with plans to establish similar sites in Brisbane and Adelaide as part of a supply chain expansion programme.

The official opening of the new 13,603m2 facility was attended by Daikin dealers and key business partners involved in the development of the site.

The site will serve as a comprehensive logistics solution for Daikin Australia to optimise fulfilment and dispatch operations for finished goods and spare parts in Victoria.

It offers a storage capacity of 40,000 cubic meters, facilitates the transportation of 700,000 cubic meters of outbound freight annually, incorporates 13 loading docks for streamlined operations, and is powered by the cutting-edge Manhattan Warehouse Management System (WMS).

The facility also houses a Daikin Trade Centre for the convenience of customers and a multi-purposes space that will be used for training and as a drop in office for Daikin staff in Melbourne’s west.

The Daikin Park Melbourne facility is part of a programme to improve Daikin’s supply chain, with other facilities soon to be opened in both Brisbane and Adelaide.

Daikin Australia’s managing director, Isao Tsumura, said the facility is a significant investment that will improve the efficiency of the manufacturer's supply chain.

He said the focus is on providing better support for customers through direct control of its logistics.

At the same time, Tsumura said the Daikin facility has created 15 new jobs in Truganina.

Daikin Park is part of the Gateway Logistics Hub, where stages four and five have just been completed.

Constructed by Texco and developed by GPT, the new facility is in the industrial precinct of Truganina, which is approximately 15km from Port Melbourne, 19km from the Melbourne CBD and 20km from Melbourne International Airport.

The facility combines design innovation and energy efficiency technologies to meet a 5 Star Green Star rating
