Daikin Australia has introduced its new 18 & 20kW R32 Premium Inverter Ducted Systems (FDYA180AV1 & FDYA200AV1).
Featuring R32 refrigerant, greater seasonal energy performance, and an optional refrigerant leak detector sensor, these units deliver powerful performance with compact side discharge outdoor units.
Engineered for the Australian market, the new systems offer exceptional energy efficiency, installation flexibility and advanced safety compliance.
The R32 Refrigerant Leak Detector Sensor (BRY43A) is required for installations where refrigerant concentration limits exceed those outlined in AS/NZS60335:2:40.
With Daikin’s Refrigerant Control Strategy, when a leak is detected, the sensor signals the Daikin controller1 to shut off the compressor, switch the indoor fan to fan-only mode, and open all zone dampers to help safely dissipate the refrigerant.
Daikin Australia general manager of product & marketing, Raj Singh, said for Daikin, safety is not an afterthought - it’s built into the system design.
“The integration between our sensor and control systems ensures immediate, automated action that protects both people and property while maintaining compliance with Australian standards,” he said.
For added flexibility, a leak output relay signal is also available via the Leak Sensor Output Accessory (BRP9A73) for integration with third-party controls.
Delivering up to 35 per cent improvement in cooling and 42 per cent in heating compared to previous models, the new systems achieve higher seasonal energy performance than ever before.
Both models are also approved under the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, making these systems an energy efficient choice for retrofit in Australian homes and businesses.
The ducted indoor units are proudly manufactured at Daikin’s Sydney factory and purpose built for Australian homes.
Designed with installer convenience in mind, the indoor unit feature rotated terminal blocks that allow wiring from sides of the electrical box rather than underneath, along with truss notches for easier installation between roof trusses.
The indoor units are paired with 320mm deep side discharge outdoor units and are pre-charged for up to 30m of piping, ensuring comfortable placement in tight side access of typical Australian homes.
The outdoor units also feature refrigerant-cooled PCB for reliable operation in ambient temperatures up to 52°C. Together these innovations deliver durability and year-round comfort tailored to Australia’s diverse climate.
