Panasonic has introduced a hydronic heating solution that uses a single system to heat and cool the home and produce hot water.
This solution is suitable for new homes or retrofitting projects. Panasonic’s Air to Water Heat Pump is space saving, with no indoor unit inside the house.
As only hydraulic piping is required, it is relatively simple to install.
It can be used for new underfloor heating, radiators or fan coil units, or to replace gas or oil boilers.
Panasonic group manager for HVAC, Joe De Bella, said the Panasonic Air to Water Heat Pump has a high-quality reputation and a large installed base in the European residential market where this solution has been available for 15 years.
“In Australia, Panasonic is targeting markets such as Victoria, Tasmania and Canberra where temperatures are colder in winter,” he said.
“The Air to Water Heat Pump warms homes home effectively and efficiently, even with extreme outdoor temperatures, as well as cooling indoor spaces in summer and providing hot water all year-round.
“This solution is ideal for new installations and low consumption homes, offering energy savings with minimised CO2 emissions.”
De Bella said the unit can be further managed with the Panasonic Smart Cloud control to achieve optimum benefits –with the ability via the app to easily connect and remotely track and monitor energy usage and running costs in real time, to see where savings can be made.
Choose e between the J Series 9kW and 16 kW models for a compact solution, or the T-CAP 12kW and 16kW models for extreme and demanding conditions.
The J Series Air to Water Heat Pump provides both domestic hot water and heat for radiators and underfloor heating from the outdoor unit.
Heat from the air is captured by the refrigerant, and hot water is produced by exchanging heat from the high-temperature refrigerant in the compressor to water, allowing for heating or hot water supply.
By converting heat energy present in the surrounding air into warmth for the home, the highly energy efficient hydronic technology produces less CO2 emissions and generates up to 5 times the energy output compared to traditional boilers and electric heaters.
The Air to Water Heat Pump provides premium comfort, ensuring that the heating capacity is maintained even at very low temperatures.
In T-CAP models, Panasonic’s dual-piped heat exchanger technology can maintain heating capacity even in low outdoor temperatures down to -20°C.
By optimising the system and the refrigerant cycle, the Air to Water Heat Pump can work under higher pressure which achieves a consistent water output temperature of 60°C even when it’s cold outside.
This solution is the ideal space-saving solution for any home as the unit does not require a separate hydrokit inside.
Additionally, thanks to the unit’s all-in-one design, all refrigerant is sealed in the compact outdoor unit, leaving only water pipes needed inside the property.
Thanks to the built-in magnet filter, metal dust particles are filtered and removed to make maintenance a breeze and ensure consistent performance from the unit.
The Panasonic Air to Water Heat Pump is available from Panasonic from August 2025.
