Daikin has acquired 75 acres of land in India to build a large manufacturing plant for air conditioners.
It will be the third plant Daikin has built in India with plans for the new facility to begin operations in 2023.
The plant will create up to 3,000 jobs and will have a total capacity of 1.5 million units per year. It will serve both the domestic and international markets.
The market penetration for air conditioners in India is still only five to six per cent proving there is huge potential for growth in that country.
Daikin also has a manufacturing presence in Australia employing 1,500 staff.
Despite being a global company Daikin has a local focus. More than 80 per cent of staff are employed outside of Japan and the company has more than 80 production sites around the globe.
