All the latest regulatory news relating to Australia’s HFC phase down will be presented at the upcoming Wire & Gas conference in Brisbane, Queensland.
Keynote speaker at the event is Dr Paul Taylor, director of Atmospheric Chemicals Policy at the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
He will be supported by an expert panel including Kylie Farrelley from Refrigerant Reclaim Australia and Greg Picker, Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) chair and Refrigerants Australia executive director.
ARC will have a stand at the trade show to engage with delegates, technicians and business owners.
Wire & Gas 2026 is an opportunity to bring together the automotive industry to discuss licensing, refrigerant management and regulatory obligations.
VASA and The Automotive Technician (TaT) are co-hosting the event, embracing the theme "Better Together”. The event will run from 31 July to 2 August at The Westin Brisbane.
ARC’s technical and training manager, Noel Munkman, will also join the panel on refrigerants and the regulation landscape.
The event will also feature a session on the new Australian Automotive Air Conditioning Code of Practice. The new Code has been revised by automotive industry association, VASA, following public consultation.
Last updated in 2008, the upcoming update is supported by the National Environment Protection Agency (EPA). The session will discuss the range of updates expected in the new Code.
Further, the ARC will present the ARCtick Environment Award at the gala awards dinner. The award recognises a Refrigerant Trading Authorisation (RTA) holder from the automotive industry. It is awarded to an RTA holder who has demonstrated sound refrigerant management, compliance and record keeping.
