Eligible workers will have access to fully funded training and certification to support the safe introduction of retrofit ceiling insulation in Victorian homes under the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program.
The Victorian Government is partnering with the Energy Efficiency Council (EEC) and registered trainers to educate, train, certify and expand the Victorian insulation workforce to install insulation to the highest standards of safety and quality.
Installers can complete the training for free, saving up to $3,500 through the package.
Registered training providers have received a grant to deliver fully subsidised training through the Retrofit Insulation Installers Training program in metropolitan and regional areas.
The Victorian Government is also subsidising the cost of certification to ensure participants who have completed the training can apply for the EEC’s Insulation Installer Certification for free.
This will provide a fully subsidised pathway to certification. Insulation installers operating under the scheme will be required to be certified to carry out discounted upgrades to eligible households in early 2026.
The training will support installers to upskill and achieve certification through the staged roll out of the VEU insulation activity to ensure safe and quality installations.
Ceiling insulation is one of the most important and cost-effective ways to improve the thermal comfort and energy efficiency of Victorian homes.
Well insulated homes reduce the amount of energy required to manually heat and cool a home, reducing household energy bills.
Solar Victoria CEO, Stan Krpan, said the Victorian government is working with industry and with training institutions to build local capability, and ensure installers have the knowledge and skills needed to deliver high quality and safe upgrades.
