The NSW government is offering air conditioning rebates to eligible households and businesses through its Energy Saving Scheme (ESS).

The NSW Air-conditioning Rebate encourages consumers to switch to more effective and energy-efficient air-conditioning systems.

Similar to rebates offered in Queensland and Victoria, they target old and energy-wasteful air-conditioning systems.

The government supplies these rebates through its partnerships with utility companies, equipment manufacturers, and installation contractors.

Rebate partner, the Efficient Energy Group, supplies accredited, energy appliances and installation services along with advice and assistance in navigating the various rebate application schemes.

Efficient Energy Group CEO Joshua Liptak, said from September 2023, rebates will be available to upgrade old, inefficient air conditioning systems to a new 7kWh split system.

With the rebate the cost of an upgrade will be $500.

Liptak said the new systems are up to 60 per cent more efficient than older systems.

“For a very affordable $500 (+ GST) after rebates, households and businesses in NSW can not only cut their energy bills but also help reduce our greenhouse gas emissions,” he said.

“Further these units incorporate Smart DC Inverter technology for faster more efficient cooling and heating.”
