The Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors’ Association of Victoria (AMCA) and Box Hill Institute are finalists for the prestigious Victorian Industry Collaboration Award.
The award is part of the Department of Business and Innovation’s Victorian Training Awards scheme.
It recognises an exemplary skills development collaboration between an employer or industry body and, at least, one other organisation.
The successful shortlisting for this award rides on the success of Box Hill Institute unique partnership with the AMCA. These two organisations have come together to develop and deliver training solutions to the industry through a sustained and integrated relationship.
A key result of this collaboration has been the formation of the new Refrigeration and Climate Control Centre of Excellence (RCCC).
The RCCC has been created to provide the highest standard of training, education and services in order to meet the current and future challenges of the industry.
A stand out feature of this collaboration is the new $41 million dollar Integrated Technology Hub. Located at the Box Hill campus, the building provides collaborative and innovative learning spaces for the air conditioning, refrigeration, mechanical, plumbing and electrical technologies industries.
Norman Gray, CEO of Box Hill Institute Group has acknowledged the shortlisted nomination as a positive outcome of an already strong collaborative agreement.
“This collaboration is a great achievement for Box Hill Institute and the AMCA. A fantastic collaborative effort has gone into this endeavour and we are thrilled to be delivering win-win outcomes for young people, businesses and our community,” Gray said.
AMCA executive director, Sumit Oberoi, said the AMCA also acknowledged the wonderful support and partnership between the AMCA and Box Hill Institute.
"It is pleasing that both organisations and key industry members have continued to invest their efforts in the Roundtable and workgroups to address the challenges in our HVAC&R industry", he said.
