Nominations close February 14, 2014 and awards will be presented at a gala dinner during the ARBS Exhibition in Melbourne from May 20-22, 2014.

Categories include the ARBS Young Achiever of the Year Award 2014 which is open to those in the 20-35 years age bracket.

It is open to engineers, designers, trades or those involved in sales and marketing activities. Nominees must be endorsed by at least two people with whom they have worked, and exhibit traits including future leadership, drive and a commitment to excellence.

Previous Young Achiever of the Year award winners include Daniel Tan Teng Yeow, who works with Fantech, and who wrote a design guide on impulse technology which he presented to the Standards Committee for AS 1668.2 for  ventilation and airconditioning in buildings.

The Outstanding Service and Maintenance Provider for 2014 category is open to any service, installation or facility management company in the air conditioning, refrigeration and building services sector who can demonstrate excellence in delivering and maintaining customer service initiatives, improving standards and performance of equipment with a focus on energy efficiency, safety and sustainable innovation.

Entrants must exhibit a continuing strategic commitment to their customers, and be endorsed by at least three independent customers who have used the service provider for more than six months.

A popular category is the Product Excellence Award 2014. Nominations are invited  for  new  technologies  or  application  of  existing  technologies  that  demonstrate  innovation  and  fitness  for  purpose  for  the  HVAC&R sector.

Evidence of commercial  success  and  performance  from  end  users/consumers  is  highly  regarded.

The HVAC Project Excellence Award 2014 is seeking standout Australian projects that  demonstrate  innovation  and  a sustainable  approach to excellence.

The HVAC Project Excellence award is open for projects that have been commissioned in the past three years, and which show  strong  environmental  credentials,  such  as  energy  efficiency,  superior indoor air quality,  noise  control,  water  conservation  and  carbon  emission minimisation  while  demonstrating  commercial  viability  that  improves  lifecycle  costs  and  end  user  benefits.

Referigeration is one of the fastest changing sectors in our industry, and the phase out of some refrigerants and phase in of others adds potential complexity to projects and drives new solutions to old problems.

For refrigeration projects that demonstrate innovation, best practice and a commitment to sustainability, the Refrigeration Project Excellence Award is open to new projects, retrofits or extensions.

The 2012 award was taken out by Bitzer Australia, together with Strathbrook Industries Services, who combined to provide F. Mayer Imports with a world-class energy efficient refrigerated space solution. It used a holistic combination of well-insulated walls, rapid roller doors to prevent infiltration, low GWP refrigerants, efficient compressor technology, waste heat recover for floors, and glycol defrosting evaporators.

The result is a highly efficient, long-term commercial solution.

The Outstanding Industry Education/Training Award is open to individuals, training institutions or companies, and recognises an outstanding contribution to training, education and leadership within our industry.

Entries need to provide details of the course development and design, whether theoretical or practical, and provide evidence of the implementation and long term effect (e.g. productivity improvements, increase in profits etc.) of the training.

Then of course there is the Hall of Fame category for those who’ve made an outstanding contribution to our industry over many years.

2012 Hall of Fame inductees include Clive Broadbent, Gerard Wittkher, Grahame Gibbs and Kevin O’Shea.

Nomination forms are available on the ARBS website at http://www.arbs.com.au/how-to-nominate.
