ARC director jailed
The head of a New Zealand-based air conditioning company has been jailed for fraud.
John William Jackson, former director of Aire Res-Comm (ARC), was sentenced to two years and five months in prison after admitting to six charges of accessing a computer for dishonest purpose following an investigation by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO).
The SFO claims that between 2006 and 2009 Jackson used internet banking to divert more than $570,000 of company money to bank accounts linked to him and his family.
He misrepresented these transactions in company documents as payments to creditors.
Jackson established the air conditioning installation company with two business partners in 2002.
His role in the company was to design air conditioning systems, obtain consents from the regional council, price and secure contracts and outsource labour and supplies on the contracts.
