CCN Live 2014 is shaping up to be even bigger and better than last year's full day conference with retail giant Coles confirming its participation along with the Facility Managers Association of Australia (FMAA).

As the conference keynote, Coles general manager of store services, energy and sustainability, Holly Angell, will detail the supermarket's energy efficiency initiatives across air conditioning and refrigeration.

Angell will also discuss the transition to low GWP refrigerants. Coles is investing $1.1 billion in new stores over the next three years.

In the past five years alone, the Wesfarmers-owned supermarket chain has opened 100 new stores and refurbished another 350.

Coles was also one of the winners of this year's ARBS Awards. The Coles Supermarket in Hallam, Victoria won the Refrigeration Project Excellence Award.

Want to know the HVAC expectations of facility managers? Participants at CCN Live 2014 are about to find out with an insightful presentation by GHD principal consultant David Chokolich, and director of the FMAA.

Both speakers are a perfect fit for this year's conference theme - How to profit in the Green Age - which focuses on customers and the end user.

Green Building Council of Australia COO, Robin Mellon, will officially open the conference with a presentation on how to measure and put a dollar value on sustainability. Case studies will also be used to demonstrate value.

On the subject of air conditioning, there will also be a special session on how green technology has revolutionised air conditioning and the impact it will continue to have in the future.

Another important session will be on How to Keep Refrigerant Costs Down by Minus40 managing director, Michael Bellstedt.

He will be followed by a Refrigerant Roadmap panel debate with industry heavyweights discussing the way forward as Australia transitions to low GWP refrigerants.

According to industry research firm, the Expert Group, Australia’s refrigerant bank will increase 23 per cent by 2030.

In fact by 2025, 60 per cent of low GWP gases will be new species. Nearly 45 per cent of the refrigerant bank will appear in the next 12 years. That’s how fast the market is changing. There are currently more than 50 new blends in development.

A total of six panellists will take part in the debate including Brett Fraser (A-Gas), Tim Edwards (Australian Refrigeration Association) and Ian Stangroome (VASA).

CCN Live 2014 will be held at the Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney on August 13, 2014.
