Danfoss celebrated its 80th year in business on September 1, 2013.

To confirm its 80th birthday celebrations, the company issued a formal statement.

Mads Clausen founded Danfoss in his parent’s farmhouse in Denmark in 1933. producing the first expansion valves for refrigeration systems.

Since then, the innovative business has grown and today employs 23,000 staff with sales in more than 100 countries.

Danfoss began exporting in the late 1930s and set up its first foreign sales office in Argentina in 1940.

Today the companies biggest markets are the United States, Germany, Russia and China.

Danfoss CEO, Niels B. Christiansen, said the global market has been a cornerstone for Danfoss, long before anyone even talked about globalization and Danfoss set up a a factory in Moscow, Russia.

Danfoss establishes a factory in China in 1996 and Jørgen M. Clausen, son of the company’s founder, is made president of the Danfoss Group.

This year Danfoss purchases the remaining shares in Sauer-Danfoss, and the two organizations are merged.
