Dunnair Australia has been selected as the supplier of air conditioning equipment for the billion-dollar Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre project.

This new world-class cancer care facility, jointly funded by the Victorian and federal governments, began construction in 2011 and is due for completion in late 2015.

After working closely with Lehr (LCI) Consulting in the design phase, Dunnair will supply 26 WPR water-cooled horizontal and vertical heat pump type units to meet specific requirements set out under the deal.

Dunnair managing director Ernie Ugazio said the company was extremely proud to be selected for the prestigious project.

“Our large water-cooled units are becoming the preferred choice for many consulting engineers as we can quickly manufacture to their exact specifications,” Ugazio said.

The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre is being built on the site of the former Royal Dental Hospital, across from the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Grattan Street, Carlton, and will incorporate the relocated Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

Buildings on both sides of Grattan St will be linked by covered bridges, allowing patients, visitors and staff to move easily between the two facilities.

The VCCC will provide a world-class model of care for cancer patients by combining best practice from Royal Melbourne, Peter Mac and the Royal Women’s Hospital. The 42-bed intensive care unit will double the capacity of the current Royal Melbourne ICU.

Ugazio said being awarded contracts of this kind showed that Dunnair Australia was continuing to establish itself as a major air conditioning supplier to the HVAC industry in Victoria.

“We believe that the combination of quality, competitive pricing and efficient bespoke engineering is proving to be a winning combination,” he said.
