AIRAH today officially announced the finalists for the 2013 Awards.

Celebrating outstanding achievements during the past year, the annual AIRAH Awards are the HVAC&R industry's most prestigious accolades.

Awards will be presented on October 31 at a national awards presentation dinner at Moda Events Portside in Brisbane.

AIRAH CEO Phil Wilkinson said the awards are a pivotal component of the Institute’s activities.

"By acknowledging achievement among our membership, we raise the bar for the HVAC&R industry and beyond," he said.

“As usual, this year we had a fantastic response. I know the judges had a tough time sorting through the various categories. I look forward to meeting all the finalists in Brisbane.”

AIRAH Awards 2013 finalists for the future leader category are: Clare Parry, Mark Lommers and Vahid Vakiloroaya.

Student of the Year includes Gareth Steel, Michael Whitehouse and Ngoc Tran Qang.

Excellence in Innovation cover Air Change, Edmonds CSR, Innotech, Sinclair Knight Merz, Aurecon and the Consensus Group.

The finalists for Excellence in Sustainability includes Actron Air, Alerton, Commonwealth Bank Group and Edmonds CSR.

Best HVAC or Refrigeration Retrofit or Upgrade is Norman Disney & Young for 215 Adelaide Street and Seeley International for Climate Wizard at 67 Greenhill Rd.

Another highly competitive category is excellence in HVAC and Refrigeration Research.
The finalists are Actron Air and Melbourne University.

Finalists for the Denis Joseph Award for Innovative Use of Solar Energy in HVAC and Refrigeration is Paul Cooper from the University of Wollongong for a solar-assisted HVAC system and UTS for an energy-efficient and eco-friendly solar-powered single-effect absorption air conditioning system.
 
Finally, the WR Ahern Award is presented to the best technical paper in Ecolibrium written by an AIRAH member. Four papers were eligible this year which were written bo the following authors - Jeff Binks, Richard Aynsley, Graham Carter and Don Cleland.
