A free webinar on applying natural refrigeration technologies is being hosted by Refrigerants Naturally, a global initiative of companies committed to combat climate change by replacing fluorinated gases with less harmful alternatives.
 
Members of the initiative include PepsiCo, Red Bull, The Coca-Cola Company and Unilever. The initiative is supported by Greenpeace and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

Together these companies have phased out more than 1.2 million tonnes of CO2 emissions across the globe.

An outstanding lineup of speakers will be taking part in the webinar. They will share their experiences to date in applying natural refrigeration technologies, and will discuss options that encourage the emergence of more climate-friendly practices in the future.

Speakers include:
Claudia Becker, network manager, based in the Refrigerants Naturally! Secretariat in Germany. She is also a communications advisor at HEAT GmbH, an environmental consultancy specialising in ozone layer and climate protection.

Bryan Jacob is the climate protection director at Coca-Cola , he has been coordinating and managing environmental programs for the company since 1993. His current role is to lead the company’s program to reduce the carbon footprint of the ‘drink-in-your-hand’ which covers the Coca-Cola system end-to-end value chain.

Emad Jafa, is the director of equipment development at Pepsico, and leads the Coolers/Vending innovation and equipment sustainability initiative. He has a wide range of experience in refrigeration and cooling equipment globally and joined Pepsi in 2007. Jafa has 20 years of experience leading engineering projects at General Electric Consumer and Industrial group, Caterpillar and Carrier/United Technology.

Berty Jacob, is the senior R&D manager at Unilever and is currently based at the Global Design Centre for Ice Cream in the U.K. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering and joined Unilever in 1989. During this time, he was part of the team that developed and successfully tested hydrocarbon based ice cream cabinets in India in collaboration with other partners.

Florian Wallner, is head of after sales, management and systems at Red Bull. He joined Red Bull in 2008 after finishing his studies in Business Administration and Production in Austria and Sweden. The sustainability focus of his role is about gathering data concerning energy efficiency and the carbon footprint of Red Bull’s coolers.
