To effectively operate in today's low GWP environment industry-wide training is essential to upskill contractors and maintain safety.
The Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors Association (AMCA) is inviting participants to take part in an industry developed course on refrigerant gas management.
The online course covers commissioning, site considerations, safety, installation of equipment, R410A/R32 and more. For details email Training@amca.com.au
Meanwhile, the Automotive Air Conditioning, Electrical and Cooling Technicians of Australasia (VASA) last month announced workshops on R1234yf, the new refrigerant that is replacing R134a.
The workshops will be held at the Wire & Gas Convention and trade show which will be held on the Gold Coast from June 5-7, 2015. Bookings are available at www.vasa.org.au/WG2015
Research firm the Thinkwell Group estimates that by 2025, 60 per cent of low GWP gases will be new species, which is why upskilling is so important.
Thinkwell Group managing director, Michael McCann, said the market is undergoing rapid change.
“There are currently more than 50 new blends in development,” he said.
“By the time today’s apprentices are in their mid-30s they will be dealing with more than 20 new substances they have no training in. Welcome to the future where nothing stays the same.”
