Australia's HVACR industry is undergoing such dramatic change that it is screaming out for leadership, according to Peter Gibson, the managing director of Bitzer Australia Pty Ltd.
“For local industry to move forward it is important to promote leadership to avoid being left behind; this is just one of the reasons why Bitzer is the main sponsor of CCN's HVACR Leadership Awards,” Gibson said.
CCN's inaugral awards program feature fives categories and as the main sponsor Bitzer will be presenting the leadership award, which recognises industry excellence and innovation as well as leadership.
Bitzer has been setting the engineering agenda in system design for the refrigeration market for over 50 years so its not surprising to see Bitzer leading the awards program. Put simply, Bitzer and innovation are one and the same worldwide in refrigeration compressor products and systems.
“As an industry we have some amazing new technology and innovations being introduced to the market; pooling these innovations at a local level allows engineers and organisations to lead and provide a sustainable future for the systems we design and the markets we serve,” Gibson said.
It is the market leaders that are driving the HVACR Leadership Awards including ABB Australia, who is sponsoring the Industry Rising Star award category.
The company's drives and controls unit manager, Michael Briggs, said its important to recognise the achievements of upcoming talent within the HVACR industry.
“Recognising the achievements of the rising stars of today, provides young people with the encouragement, inspiration and confidence, to become the industry leaders of tomorrow,” Briggs said.
“Innovation is critical to the success of not only ABB as a company, but also to our customers. Each year ABB invests more than $1 billion in R&D, employing more than 8,000 technologists in more than 20 countries.”
Industry groups like the Australian Refrigeration Association (ARA) also recognise the importance of the HVACR Leadership Awards. The ARA is sponsoring the Emerging Leader in Energy Savings category because Australia's future success will be determined by its ability to make the transition to low GWP refrigerants.
This includes the industry's ability to lead in the area of energy efficiency, according to ARA president, Tim Edwards.
“There are enormous opportunities to reduce the heat load in all buildings and refrigeration applications,” he said.
“But change is hard it takes courage, insight, vision and collaboration.”
