DuPont has executed a full separation of its Performance Chemicals segment, which includes the Titanium Technologies and Chemicals & Fluoroproducts businesses.

DuPont said the separation will take about 18 months and100 per cent of the new public entity will be owned by DuPont shareholders.

DuPont chair and CEO Ellen Kullman said the decision follows a strategic review.

"This separation will advance the transformation of DuPont and result in two strong, highly competitive companies,” Kullman said.

"Performance Chemicals will emerge as a top global industrial chemicals company with industry leading products and strong cash flow.”

Since 2010, DuPont has executed a number of acquisitions and divestitures – including acquiring Danisco, a leading food and biosciences business, while divesting its Performance Coatings segment earlier this year.

Meanwhile, HB Products says it has launched the world’s first sensor capable of measuring the condition of gas and liquid refrigerant in a refrigeration system.

The Danish manufacturer says the sensor is designed to detect gas quality in the intake of refrigeration compressors, ensuring liquid refrigerant does not enter the compressor to damage the moving parts.

It can even detect small liquid droplets before they become critical for the compressor.

In the event of liquid hammer, an instantaneous alarm is sent to the compressor control, which can then signal an emergency stop.

The sensor measures the total gas and liquid capacity, which can be read in pF.

In addition to built-in data logging, alarms are saved so the HBCP can effectively function as a black box.

Moreover, it can log up to 16,000 readings with programmable time intervals, and can be set up using a PC.

The HBCP is designed for installation in systems using NH3 & HFC refrigerants and is available in two different sizes, ¾” for pipe sizes less than 2” and the 1” for larger pipe sizes.

Technical information on the HBCP is available on the HB Products website www.hbproducts.dk
