NRL team the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs will join this year’s World Refrigeration Day (WRD) celebrations on Sunday, 26 June, 2022.

This global celebration promotes the refrigeration and air conditioning trade raising the profile of an industry that touches the lives of everyone every day.

The Superior Training Centre (STC) has partnered with the Bulldogs and local schools to run a pilot program introducing pre-apprenticeship programs suitable for electrotechnology and HVACR courses.

The program aims to encourage students to continue in school based training or full apprenticeships.

As part of the program an open day will be held at the Canterbury Leagues Club on Sunday, 26 June. It is an opportunity for employers to meet students and job seekers to find out more about career opportunities as a refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) technician.

In recognition of WRD, the program will highlight the hidden trades such as RAC, metal fabrication and electrotechnology electrician.

Industry groups such as the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (RACCA), the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heating (AIRAH) and WELD Australia will be participating along with 20 employers ready to answer questions from students in attendance.

There are great presentations planned for the day including a speech by Bulldogs legend Sam Perrett.

Presentations will be held in the Paragon Room of the Canterbury Leagues Club from 11am to 3pm including a virtual welding demonstration.

Giveaways include double passes to the Rabbitohs-Bulldogs game on Sunday, 17 July.
