The Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) is calling for speaker submissions for its very first one-day Humidity Workshop.

To be held in Sydney on August 3, the workshop committee is now calling for abstracts.

AIRAH CEO Tony Gleeson, said mechanical contractors and design engineers will benefit from the workshop.

“Architects and builders who need to understand the details and importance of vapour barriers and insulation in controlling humidity should also attend,” Gleeson said.

Workshop committee member Ben Cox, said the effect of high ambient humidity can be overlooked or poorly understood by mechanical engineers.

“This workshop is being held to encourage knowledge sharing between fellow professionals, and to update everyone on best-practice technology, design standards, and obtaining experience from people in the field,” Cox said.

It will cover IAQ, mould, cleaning, energy efficiency and case studies covering a range of topics will be welcome including building humidity, condensation damage, occupant health, energy and air conditioning design.

Abstracts should be sent to the AIRAH conference organiser Emily McLaughlin by Wednesday, May 25 by emailing conferences@airah.org.au
