The Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) Program has released a supplementary consultation paper on air conditioners and chillers.
The paper provides an overview of feedback received on the Consultation RIS published earlier this year.
Further consultations are planned later this month with written submissions closing on January 31, 2017.
Reforms are being undertaken because the current method for rating the energy efficiency of air conditioners and chillers, including that used for the Energy Rating Label (ERL), have not kept pace with technology and market changes.
Moreover, Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for air conditioners and chillers are divided between the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) Act and the National Construction Code (NCC) in Australia.
Meanwhile, Australia took part in the 18th Energy Efficient End-use Equipment (4E) meetings in Canade In mid-November 2016. The event is hosted by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
As the Chair of the IEA 4E, Australia’s GEMS Regulator, Michelle Croker, led the meetings which are a great opportunity for member countries to discuss policy and exchange new ideas.
