The Clean Air Society of Australia and New Zealand (CASANZ) and the Federal Government are working collaboratively to raise awareness around the importance of clean air.
Work is being carried out in preparation for the 22nd International Clean Air and Environment Conference which will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015.
Environment Minister Greg Hunt recently launched a Clean Air Champions Initiative to support work towards establishing a National Clean Air Agreement.
The National Clean Air Agreement will focus on actions to reduce air pollution and improve air quality through cooperative action between industry and government at the national, state and local level.
The Clean Air Champions are a select group of representatives who will work to raise community awareness and knowledge of air quality and initiatives being undertaken to support a clean air future.
Champions include industry representatives, such as Hyundai and Gary Fooks, chair of the Blue Sky Alliance as well as academics, such as Peter Rayner, leader of the Clean Air and Urban Landscapes Hub.
CASANZ 2015 conference chair, Catherine Wilson, said the theme of this year's conference is New Frontiers to stimulate thinking around new ideas and tools that can be applied across the fields of air quality and climate change.
