Six new board directors have been formally appointed to the Green Building Council of Australia’s (GBCA’s) Board of Directors, including CEO of the Mirvac Group, Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz.
She joins five other Board Directors who were announced in September and who are committed to driving greater industry engagement and collaboration across the Australian property and construction industry.
The six new members of the GBCA Board of Directors were formally appointed at the GBCA Board meeting yesterday.
They are:
Tanya Cox, executive general manager, Property Services and Chief Operating Officer, DEXUS Property Group
John Flecker, CEO, Brookfield Multiplex Australasia
Mark Gray, managing director, Leighton Properties
Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz, CEO, Mirvac Group
Rob Sindel, CEO, CSR Limited
Mark Steinert, CEO, Stockland.
Prior to her appointment at Mirvac in 2012, Lloyd-Hurwitz served as managing director at LaSalle Investment Management, where she was responsible for business operation, core investment accounts and funds business lines in the European region.
She has also held senior executive positions at MGPA, Macquarie Group and Lend Lease Corporation, working in Australia, the US and Europe.
GBCA chair Daniel Grollo said Mirvac has been a member of the Council since 2003, has sponsored various Green Star rating tools and boasts a number of Green Star ‘firsts’, including the first Green Star retail and education buildings in Australia.
"The seniority and diversity of the new directors reinforces the GBCA’s growing influence and the increasing appetite for green building. We look forward to capitalising on the talents and experience of our new board members and accelerating the transformation of Australia’s built environment," Grollo said.
Lloyd-Hurwitz replaces her colleague Chris Luscombe, general manager of Mirvac Asset Management, who has made a valuable contribution to the GBCA Board since joining in 2008.
A number of other directors have also stepped down after many years of service.
Tony Arnel, global director of sustainability, Norman Disney & Young, was a founding member of the Board.
David Worley, former divisional CEO of Crane Group, was appointed to the board in 2006.
Ralph Horne, director of research and innovation for the College of Design and Social Context at RMIT University, and Darren Bilsborough, director of urban innovation at Woods Bagot, both joined the board in 2010.
