Sydney-based electrical engineer Professor Alex Baitch has been appointed to the role of national president for Engineers Australia (EA) in 2014.

EA CEO Stephen Durkin said Professor Baitch will be working to see the organisation meet its goals for 2014, including increased investment in membership, establishing stronger ties between industry and academia, and ensuring ongoing professional development is maintained at the highest standard by the engineering workforce.

“Professor Baitch is committed to improving the community perception of the critical role engineers play to the economy and will be vocal on major issues surrounding the impact of population growth, a sustainable future, engineering skills, nuclear energy, climate change and the future of innovation for Australia," Durkin said.
