As part of its 2013 Efficiency Roadshow, Heatcraft hosted a half day tour of its Innovation Centre and its new Gas2Go refrigerant packaging operation at Milperra
in Sydney’s west.
Heatcraft’s operations director, Paul Campbell, played tour guide showcasing
the tank farm and filling station where gas is sourced from around the world.
Strict quality assurance testing is applied throughout the entire supply chain to verify the source of the gas that is imported and to ensure stock is tested to AHRI 700 international refrigerant standards.
Product integrity is central to all of the facility’s processes and state of the art Gas Chromatograph (GC) machines are used to ensure every batch is verified right down to concentration levels and composition.
GC scanning also looks for trace contaminants (nitrogen, oxygen, oils and hydrocarbons) and provides moisture analysis.
The cylinders are also leak tested before being released to customers.
Chemist John Morgan provided a tour of the laboratory and the processes undertaken for composition verification utilising three detection systems
