Emerson Climate Technologies today announced the appointment of John Rhodes as president of its refrigeration business.

Rhodes joins Emerson Climate Technologies from Emerson Appliance Solutions, where he served as president of the Therm-O-Disc business.

The company's group vice president, Bill Bosway, said over the past few years its strong team in the refrigeration business has transformed itself into a customer-focused service leader that brings new products to the industry quickly, and aggressively pursues new markets.

“John’s passion for innovation and his focus on results makes him a natural fit to drive this organization forward," Bosway said.

The Emerson Climate Technologies refrigeration business serves the supermarket, convenience store and restaurant industries as a leader in compressor technology for commercial refrigeration.

"This business has seen growth in the transport market and has become the favored compressor company for key market leaders," Bosway said.

With the acquisition of Vilter Manufacturing in 2009, Emerson entered the $2 billion adjacent market of industrial refrigeration.

Rhodes began his career with Emerson in 1991 as an engineer for Emerson Motor Company where he held a number of increasingly responsible positions in sales and marketing.

He has also served as Emerson’s director of investor relations and as president of Emerson Heating Products.

Rhodes holds Bachelor of Science degrees in engineering and economics from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Washington University.
