Corporate Carbon Advisory has today released a web tool that allows users to view the live state of the Australian energy markets.
It can be used for both the National Electricity Market covering the eastern states and Western Australia’s Wholesale Energy Market.
The site displays five minutely updated wholesale electricity prices, demand, generation and transmission flows and features live data for the contribution of wind and roof-top solar to the national generation mix.
This allows users to easily asses how these renewable energy sources are contributing to Australia’s energy supply.
Pricing and demand data is also displayed for the natural gas markets across the eastern states With the imminent start-up of LNG exports from Gladstone in Queensland, these natural gas markets have already seen a significant increase in spot price volatility.
The data displayed is sourced from freely available information across many sites in the public domain. However, through this compilation initiative Corporate Carbon Advisory is attempting to make market data more accessible to a wider range of energy market participants, including renewable energy project developers, financiers and energy consumers.
The site is free for registered users and with the introduction of the federal government's Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF), the site provides opportunities to monetise energy related abatement projects.
