Workplace health and safety, duties and responsibilities, are a priority for every organisation working in the HVAC&R industry.

Recognising this, the Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors’ Association (ACMC) in partnership with Pro-Visual Publishing has released the newest edition of the HVAC&R Industry Guide to Workplace Safety which aims to improve the standard of safety across the industry.

This year's guide provides industry members and managers with advice and information on the duties and responsibilities of the entire workplace.

It covers compliance and enforcement within the HVAC&R industry, including the functions of industry WHS regulators and the responsibilities everyone has to ensure WHS policies are upheld and maintained.

Other topics highlighted within the guide include the importance of preventing falls from heights, including ladders and roofs.

Each year, many serious injuries result from falls from ladders. Overreaching, trying to carry out heavy tasks or simply not setting the ladder up securely are among some of the common causes of falls.

If a task must be done where there is a risk of a person falling more than two metres, a risk assessment must be undertaken by law.
