After three challenging days of competition, WorldSkills Australia formally announced the winners of the prestigious
National Refrigeration Competition.
Claiming the gold medal was Sydney-based apprentice, Beau Kupris. The 19 year old who is currently employed
by Amertec Pty Ltd and attends TAFE NSW South Western Sydney Institute’s Granville College, proved his
commitment and skill as he triumphed in the four challenges presented to him.
Beau was also awarded a trip to Europe to visit the Chillventa Refrigeration Expo in Nuremberg, Germany,

Taking out the silver medal and narrowly missing out on the gold by 0.5 of a mark was 19 year old Victoria-
based apprentice, Jordan Wallworth. He also received a state of the art Fluke Multimetre for his incredible
achievement.
Mark Young, a 22 year old Tasmania-based refrigeration technician, took home the bronze medal and a
Fluke clamp metre, a huge accomplishment against such tough and close competition.
The National Refrigeration Competition is held during ARBS and showcases the skills of 10 of Australia’s
best young refrigeration technicians.
The competition involved 18 hours of solid work including the installation of a refrigeration system, commissioning
an air conditioning system, locating a fault in a refrigeration system and taking part in an electrical fault finding
challenge.
