The big day is finally here. After months of keeping the big news under wraps I can finally share with readers CCN’s new and revised 2022 Awards of Excellence.

After eight years as the HVACR Leadership Awards, CCN has given the awards program a complete makeover. The revisions make it a more modern and dynamic awards program that better reflects today’s HVACR industry.

The new award categories are certainly more modern and inclusive. I am the first to admit that when the makeover was first proposed I resisted.

I had grown very attached to the leadership awards and was proud of each and every worthy award winner that had been a part of the program. I was being ridiculous of course there is always room for improvement.

The proof is in the pudding. The new and revised Awards of Excellence are a better reflection of our aspirations as an industry. We want a more diverse workforce which is why we have included the Diversity Champion of the Year Award.

We want to recognise up and coming talent, our rising stars, but we want to recognise them for their talent not their gender. This is the reason why we now have a single rising star award.

Previously it was a dual award (Male and Female Rising Star). However, we did keep the Woman of the Year in HVACR Award. It is gender-based but let’s be brutally honest here, women make up such a small percentage of this industry we need to support and promote diversity any way we can.

Of course we kept all the old favourites such as Contractor of the Year, Tradie of the Year and HVACR Leader of the Year. Two new categories I am particularly excited about are HVACR Team of the Year and Sustainability Champion of the Year.

Please take the time to check out the Awards of Excellence and nominate. Let’s showcase the best of our industry. Nominate here:www.climatecontrolnews.com.au/awards
