GREE Australia has launched its Inverter Hot Water Heat Pump series in the Australian market, offering installers and customers a high-efficiency, low-emissions alternative to conventional water heating systems.
Developed by GREE’s R&D team in Wuhu, China, and engineered specifically for Australian conditions, these units combine advanced inverter technology with smart controls to deliver outstanding performance, reliability, and energy savings.
Compared to traditional electric water heaters, the GREE hot water heat pump promises up to 70% energy savings under optimal conditions.
Key Features & Advantages
- R290 Refrigerant (Low GWP): The system uses R290 refrigerant, which has a very low global warming potential (GWP = 3) and zero ozone depletion potential, making it a more sustainable and climate-friendly choice.
- High Efficiency & COP up to ~5.4: Under test conditions, the heat pump achieves a coefficient of performance (COP) of 5.4, translating into significant electricity savings vs. standard electric water heaters.
- Wide Ambient Operating Range: Designed to work in ambient temperatures from –7 °C to 45 °C, it is suitable for much of Australia’s climate.
- Smart Controls & Connectivity: Equipped with Wi-Fi and compatible with the GREE+ app, users can monitor and control the system remotely.
- Sunflower Mode & Adaptive Operation: The “Sunflower” intelligent energy-saving mode leverages AI to schedule heating during warmer periods of the day, boosting energy savings by up to 10%.
- Quiet & Compact Design: Sound pressure levels are around 44 dB(A), and the units feature a microchannel heat exchanger and inverter compressor design to reduce noise and improve durability.
- Six-Year Parts & Labour Warranty: GREE backs its hot water heat pump with a comprehensive 6-year parts and labour warranty.
Gree Australia national sales manager, Stacey Nicholls, said Australia is undergoing a transition to more energy-efficient and low-emission home systems.
“With grid pressures, rising electricity costs, and growing regulatory support (e.g. incentives under the NSW Energy Savings Scheme), the timing is ideal for GREE to introduce a premium, high-performance hot water heat pump offering,” Nicholls said.
Beyond delivering superior technical performance, the GREE hot water heat pump supports the broader goals of decarbonisation and energy demand management.
For installers and wholesalers, the product offers a compelling margin opportunity in a fast-growing market segment.
