Danish OEM Advansor has launched Low Superheat, an energy saving option for its popular ValuePack rack mainly used in medium-sized supermarkets and light industrial applications.

The new Low Superheat option from Advansor has been running and tested in more than 30 supermarkets for the last two years in both cold and warm climates. Measurements show energy savings above 10 per cent compared to the old refrigeration system.

Low Superheat allows the evaporators to run with very low superheat setting without having the risk of liquid CO2 returning to the compressors. Typically, the evaporation temperature can be increased by around 4-5 Kelvin, which will provide energy savings around 10 per cent.

The new Low Superheat option builds on the success of Advansor’s Ultra-Low Superheat Module which was introduced to the market a year ago.

The popularity of the module has driven Advansor to develop a full factory line for its production.

While the Ultra-Low Superheat Module is relevant for larger capacity segments above 100 kW, the Low Superheat option is aimed at smaller capacities below 100 kW.

Advansor CTO, Kenneth Bank Madsen, said the lower capacity segments, such as medium-sized supermarkets, should also be able to benefit from energy savings with competitive solutions.

“That is why we are launching Low Superheat as a standard option on ValuePack,” he said.

Low Superheat removes overheating by increasing the evaporation temperature and thereby lower the temperature difference requiring less energy for cooling and thereby saving energy.

“The solution is capable of removing all CO2 liquid from the suction line, ensuring safe compressor operation and optimal energy performance,” he said.

Advansor also launched the ValuePack Light, an ultra-compact CO2 Climate Solution for smaller supermarkets and discount stores.

With a height of only 1570mm, the ValuePack Light fits into tight places like basements and small machinery rooms. The ValuePack Light offers capacities up to 45kW (MT) and up to 15kW (LT).

Madsen said it is one of the most compact racks in the market with that capacity.

“At the same time, it is a very energy efficient solution with Cylinder Unloading Technology on the MT1 compressor as standard, and optional heat recovery, using the excess heat from the cooling processes for space heating or hot tap water and thereby increasing energy savings further,” he said.

The ValuePack Light builds on Advansor’s existing product, namely the ValuePack, which the company has sold more than 4,000 units.

The new ValuePack Light is a compact version of the ValuePack and as standard comes with the latest Advansor inventions including a patented receiver design with integrated coil and suction accumulator protecting against liquid slugging, and an oil separator contributing to less oil circulation in the system and better heat transfer in the evaporator.
